ISSUES
Art Schwertz wants to bring the district back to the people!
Transformation of the Inner City: Art believes that we must transform the inner city and our housing developments into a way out of poverty by encouraging businesses to train and hire inner-city residents.
Job Creation: Art will work to stimulate job creation throughout the District by creating an environment in which public servants put the needs of the people above their own.
Education: Art believes in giving parents a choice when it comes to educating their children through the use of parental choice vouchers and tuition tax credits and he will hold public officials accountable for the federal monies they are provided. Art is also a proponent of homeschooling as a viable alternative of education for those parents who choose to do so.
Crime: In order to reduce crime in our area, Art will address both the economic and moral needs of the people and work toward increasing funding to law enforcement agencies.
Taxes: Art is opposed to raising taxes while his opponent favors raising taxes on everyone including those making under $20,100 per year! (H.R. 4275)
Health Care: Health care must become affordable for all Americans. Art will do this by standing up to the powerful trial lawyers and pharmaceutical companies and support legislation that promotes affordable healthcare, unlike his opponent who voted against the Prescription Drug Bill (H.R. 1) and did not bother to vote on legislation that would have allowed importation of cheaper prescription drugs! (H.R. 4275)
Social Security: Art believes federal politicians would have a greater concern for fixing social security if they were once again a part of the social security system instead of the exclusive retirement system they now enjoy.
Marriage: Art will protect the sanctity of traditional marriage, unlike his opponent who voted recently against the Marriage Protection Act. (H.R. 3313)
Pro-Life: Medical science has proven that life begins at conception and Art is resolved to protect life at all costs, unlike his opponent who, according to Planned Parenthood, a leader in sex promotion and the abortion industry, votes with them 90% of the time.
